Successful delivery of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)- and Full Motion Video (FMV) analysis courses in Face to Face (F2F) Virtual classroom.
JANUARY 2021
After the successful completion of the first Imagery Analyst course in the face to face virtual classroom (Read article of October 2020: https://lnkd.in/dy2hKKi ) the ISR Academy converted two more courses from the “traditional classroom environment” into the F2F virtual set-up. Both courses were successfully delivered in November and December 2020.

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Analysis Course
The Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) analysis course consists of an academic and a practical analysis part. The academic part (SAR Fundamentals) was given, in close cooperation with Airbus Defence and Space, in our F2F virtual classroom from locations in Germany and the Netherlands, while the students resided in a third European country.
The practical sessions were commenced from the location in the Netherlands and consisted of both instructor-led training (ILT) and individual assignments. The students had access to the remote workstations (WS) in the Netherlands. Those workstations are utilized with various analysis software packages for SAR, stills and FMV analysis.

Full Motion Video (FMV) Analysis Course
The Full Motion Video (FMV) analysis course has a similar structure to the SAR analysis course. The difference is that the students not only practice with recorded data. Throughout the course, the level of difficulty increases. The assignments become more complicated were the FMV is streamed to the students. This is equivalent to real-time video. The ISR Academy's Instructional System Design (ISD) allows students to work individually or as a team on practical assignments.
The ISR Academy has successfully completed both the SAR- and the FMV course in December 2020.
The courses were delivered to Intelligence organizations from NATO member states.
Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the ISR Academy was forced to look for a new way to train their students. A new methodology was developed using a F2F Virtual Classroom environment and remote access to analysis workstations.
“The experiences we have gained in previous courses in the same virtual environment have again shown that we are on the right track” Joep Schouren, Manager of the ISR Academy says. “With this expansion of our training package, we are able to support each student individually and to guide them in a natural way.
